Luis Yadiel Perez Diaz
Blind accessibility tester, trainer, and transcriptionist.
I am one person, not a company. I test apps the way blind people actually use them — with a screen reader, flow by flow — and I tell you in plain writing what works, what does not, and what to fix first.
If you build an app and you have never watched a blind person try to sign up for it, pay for it, or cancel it, that is exactly the gap I fill.
At a glance
- Where: York, Pennsylvania — I work entirely from home, remotely, on Eastern time, and I keep late hours.
- What I test on: Android with SandFly and TalkBack, and Windows with NVDA.
- How to reach me: Email first, so everything stays in writing.
About me
I have been blind from birth. A screen reader is not a tool I pick up for work and put down afterwards — it is how I read, write, pay bills, talk to people, and use every app on my phone and computer, every day.
Day to day I use SandFly and TalkBack on Android and NVDA on Windows. I am not an iPhone user, so I do not offer iOS or VoiceOver testing. I would rather tell you that up front than guess at a platform I do not live on.
I also help other blind people with screen readers every day in online communities, including communities for blind players of simulation software. Most of that help is unofficial and unpaid — someone is stuck on a screen they cannot reach, and I walk them through it. Doing that for years is how I learned to explain an accessibility problem so clearly that a developer who has never used a screen reader can act on it.
An example of my work
I filed a defect report with Oracle’s accessibility office about their cloud console: the main navigation menu could not be reached at all in screen reader browse mode. My report included evidence from the accessibility tree, the exact cause, and a suggested fix. Oracle escalated it to the team that owns that part of the console. I raise issues the way I would want to receive them — specific, reproducible, and with a fix attached where I can see one.
If I have not used your app before, I will say so honestly. That is not a weakness in the test — a genuine cold start is worth something in itself, because your signup and onboarding will get the same first run your next blind customer will get.
What I offer
I offer four services. You can hire me for any one of them on its own.
1. Screen reader accessibility testing
A full pass over your Android app with a screen reader, flow by flow — not a quick look at the home screen. I go through:
- Signup and sign-in
- Your core features, start to finish
- Settings and preferences
- Subscription flows, including paying and cancelling
You get a written report in severity order: what is missing, what is present but unreachable with a screen reader, and what to fix first. The report is written so you can hand it straight to whoever writes your code.
After you ship fixes, I do one retest of the items I reported, so you can confirm they are actually resolved. The fee is flat and agreed per project before I start.
2. Live accessibility training
A live voice session with you and your team. First, I use your app with a screen reader while your team listens, so you hear exactly where a blind user gets stuck, slowed down, or shut out. Then I guide your team through driving the app eyes-free yourselves, so the lesson sticks after the call ends.
Sessions run 90 minutes. A longer session is possible — just ask when you email me.
3. Transcription
I transcribe audio to verbatim text — what was actually said, in writing you can search, quote, and keep. Send me the audio and tell me what it is for, and I will confirm the scope and turnaround in writing before I start.
4. Photo description
I write detailed descriptions of images — the subject, the setting, the details that carry the meaning — for blind readers, or for accessibility content where a picture needs words that actually convey it. If a set of images goes together, I describe every image in the set, not just the first one.
How I work
- Email me first. Write to luisperezdiaz2006@gmail.com and tell me what you are building and what you need. I always work in writing and by email, so there is a clear record of everything discussed.
- Start with a small paid test. New clients usually start with a small paid test so you can see the work before committing to more. If that first piece is not useful to you, you have spent a little, not a lot.
- Agree the scope and the fee in writing. Rates are set per project once we agree on the scope — email me and I’ll quote it in writing. No figure gets agreed anywhere except in that email thread.
- I do the work and report back. For testing, that means the written severity-ordered report described in my testing service details. For training, transcription, or photo description, it means the session or the finished text set out in your written quote.
- Payment by PayPal invoice. I invoice through PayPal, payable to my US bank account. I work remotely only and do not travel for work.
About rates: I have not published a price list, on purpose. Every app and every recording is a different size of job, so I set the rate per project once the scope is clear — email me and I’ll quote it in writing.
Accessibility of this site
This site is built to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AAA wherever AAA criteria apply to a static one-page site: text contrast of at least 7 to 1 for normal text and 4.5 to 1 for large text, thick high-contrast focus indicators that are never removed, generous link and button sizes, no animation, and a layout that survives 200 percent text resize and 400 percent zoom without sideways scrolling or lost content. All text on this page is real text, the heading order is sequential, and the page is fully usable with a keyboard alone or with a screen reader.
Accessibility is the work I sell, so this page is also a sample of it. If you find any barrier here — anything you cannot reach, read, or understand — please tell me about it by emailing me at luisperezdiaz2006@gmail.com and I will fix it. Feedback about this site’s accessibility is always welcome.
Contact me
Email is the best way to reach me, and the way I prefer to start every job — it leaves a written record of everything.
- Email me at luisperezdiaz2006@gmail.com For testing, training, transcription, and photo description enquiries.
- Call or text me at (717) 473-7503 This is my Google Voice number — it reaches me on my computer or my phone. Email is still best for a first enquiry about work.
I am in York, Pennsylvania, on Eastern time, and I keep late hours — if you email at an odd hour, there is a fair chance I am awake.
